About Our Rides
Rides in our #SocialRide series are free to all participants. And as the name suggests, they are social rides. This means we travel at a speed that allows free-flowing conversation and on roads where we can safely ride together, generally two-abreast. There’s no timer and the last person home is always one of the ride leaders.
Anyone can join one of a #SocialRide, but we do insist that you register beforehand, so that we can ensure that their is an appropriate number of experienced ride leaders. There are no charges and no obligations. If you wake up on the morning of the ride and it’s tipping it down outside, you can just pull the duvet over your head. We won’t be too offended but we would appreciate it if you let us know.
Throughout the year, social rides are held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. During the summer months, we run midweek rides on Tuesday evenings.

On special occasions throughout the year, we organise rides that are a little bit different. They will probably be bit longer than normal but no less social. And they will always involve some kind of extended refreshment stop.
Sofa to Saddle ride to The Swan on the Green
Our first Feature Ride was a Spring Bank Holiday ride to The Swan on the Green in West Peckham. Two groups took different routes, one via the beatiful country lanes of Crouch and the other straight through the woods. It's hard to say who had the most fun but nobody wanted to swap routes for the journey home.
In September 2017, we took a group of over 20 riders from West Malling to Rye, and back! That was a 120 mile roundtrip, and whilst many doubted their abilty to complete the journey, when they signed up in June, everybody had an amazing time.

Throughout the year, we run a regular Club Ride on a Tuesday evening. If you've joined one of our Sunday Social rides, you'll find these tend to be a little bit more of everything; more speed, more hills, more distance and more social. We nearly always finish our ride at a pub, where most will stay for a refreshing dring and some relaxed banter.
For those looking to boost their fitness, as well as improve their riding technique, we have the Wednesday Workout. This is a much shorter session that focusses on a more specific aspect of your cycling. This could be anything from breaking techniques to climbing hills. Details of each session will usually be posted at least a week before the event.
These rides are aimed at those that want to improve their cycling, whether it's to reduce the journey to work time or to reach a higher level of fitness before joining a regular cycling club. Or, those who just want to get out on their bikes with a bunch of like minded people for a pleasant ride in the country.
